ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL YEAR 2 STUDENTS!

Hey all, how's the week? With FEM submission, ILR interview, OPERA test and FEM reflection paper this week and the next week and the next, I bet all of you must be feeling really exhausted! Well as long as hard work is put into doing what you need to, you would be rewarded!

Thus, the IG have been planning the TAS appreciation and commemoration event to be held on last day of school as a treat! The details are as following:

Theme: Colourfully Over-sized T-shirts
Date: 19 August 2011
Day: Friday
Starting time: 7pm
Venue: TAS
Fee: $5 per person (COMPULSORY!!)

[Yes, it's compulsory and your respective class reps would be collecting the money from you.]

The event would have various performances put up by the cohort's students and their friends, plus there will be one special performer (to be reveal on the day itself), and another special item specially for all of you!!

Dinner and a TAS momento would be included in the $5 that you will all definitely, punctually, graciously and gladly be handling over to us. Thanks in advance! :)

Some of the teachers teaching in TP may also be coming over to this event for the course's last year at Sentosa!

Hello fellow course mates!
Could you beat project due dates?
I know this blog's quite dead,
pardon, but we're all jade!

Recently some of us have taken part in various events (e.g. IAAPA), learnt and experienced something new. Others have been working hard for projects, CCAs, their internships and other commitments. However, let us not forget to stay strong and united in times of stress and fear.

A quote from Albert Einstein:
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning."

We all make mistakes, so let's not be too hung up on all of it. However we can never made a mistake as soon as we learn from them; we can only be wrong because we have learnt our lesson. Hope to achieve the best in what ever you want to do, be it your studies, your interests or your life! And to those of you who are constantly told no for your dreams, well screw that! :)

Also, congratulations to all the award winners during the Academics Awards Ceremony on the 8 July 2011 at the TCC. It was an evening of acknowledgement for all who have brave through the tough periods, and shone in their studies.

One commendable LRM-ian was our very own LRMIG President of AY10/11, Kelly Chng! Not only did she got into the Director's Honours List, she also topped several subjects altogether! Her humble and friendly character further shows her graciousness. She is the pride of LRM and will be an inspiration to the rest.

Therefore, do your best and there is nothing you cannot achieve!

The Last Party? I don't think so!

Friday, 20th May 2011 was not an ordinary one for LRM. It was the day of 'The Last Party'; the time for this year's LRM freshmen orientation.

After acceptance of the roles from our seniors on 17 March 2011, the LRMIG AY2011/12 juniors had been tasked with the very first challenge. Our abilities were put to the test with the first event on our hands, the LRM freshmen orientation 2011.

The event had gone through sweat and effort, with meetings during the holidays, on the weekends, during school days and others.

Preparation...
Finally, the very day everyone had been looking forward to arrived. The morning began with classes and work for some of us, be it in TP or TAS or others.

Then came afternoon, where some were busily tending to their CCN day stores in TP, and a bunch of others making their way back to TP for early preparations for the special event.

The process was hectic. While everyone else was having a great time at level 2's charity event, there was a team upstairs working pass their limits to bring their plan to live. The venues were coordinated, briefing was in progress, props were set up, the makeup was done and so much more that went on all at the same time.

Commencement of event...

6 pm. The freshmen started streaming into LT 23, where the adventure began to unravel. Videos were shown, and screams were heard. The detective adventure started as classes left the LT after one another, to embark on their journey to nab Abigail Wong. and save Royce.

Some cried along the way along the way and others had much fun. After the 8 stations, classes collated what they heard and saw during the trail. Representatives of each class were sent to give their take on the truth of the whole Abigail, Royce and Chanel's love triangle story.

I must say, they sure had several creative minds! Somehow along the way, they picked up that one of the characters were pregnant, and one other team suggested Darylene was part of the plot!

All in all, the real deal was that Royce was one guy who had mental problems. He caused the death of Abigail, Chanel and last but not least, the innocent policemen who was there to help him out. The ending video concluded with a message: "Beware freshies, Royce is still out there..."

The freshmen were dismissed, while the IG stayed to clean up the entire event scene. The event was a success and we were all glad of this accomplishment.

The LRMIG wishes to extend our joy and appreciation to all who came to the event; the freshmen, all the enthusiastic and passionate volunteers, those behind the scenes, our dearest and loveliest Ms Joan who helped us time and again despite her tight schedules, our friends from other courses and schools, our seniors who came to show their support, our LRM Alumni Bernard Chen from NUS, and many others who I may have left out.

We simply cannot express in words how much the IG love all of you for the continued support and love we received. Thank you once again.

In conclusion, this will not be the last of LRM's success, in fact this will be our opening event for what's to come up for this Academic Year 2011/2012 to come. Stay tuned!

As for those who came for the interview and was not selected, please do not feel discouraged. The competition was strong and we could only pick a limited number of freshmen to join us. We thank you for your enthusiasm and interest in us. :)

However, you could still sign up as volunteers during our course events! Being a volunteer during our events such and the LRM Music Fest and others, will give you a great experience! You could also earn SEAL points through your efforts in the events. Just continue to tune in to the LRMIG and our activities and events!

How do you do? It's been a week since school started for y'all! :)
Amidst all the novelty and excitement as a freshmen in TP, don't forget the most crucial : academics! Work hard and play hard!

1. The Last Party - LRM Freshmen Orientation
The details for this thriller of an orientation will be as follows:

Attire: Something comfortable to move around in, with covered shoes

Yes, this event is compulsory for all freshmen to attend! Besides, the LRMIG have put in tremendous efforts in making this possible! Please do show your much needed support by being present! Thank you very much! :)

We also wish to apologise for changing the date of the event excessively. 20 May 2011 would be the Campus Care Network (CCN) day in TP, and we initially thought it may be much of a hassle to hold the event on that day. However, we realised that 13 May 2011 is the SL Appreciation Night, and many of the Year 2s would not be able to make it for the event. Therefore, we decided to stick with 20 May 2011. We seek your kind understanding.

2. LRMIG Sub-Committee Recruitment

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I last communicated all of you in blog... There are a few updates I want to make.

Firstly, the LRMIG Interview results.

We have quite a huge response from the fresh meat and I'm glad that so many people came forward for the interview :DDDDDD I want to thank all of you who came down for the interview, we interviewed a lot of people and it is very hard for us to make decision in choosing the LRMIG Subcomms. We saw a lot of potential in everyone of you! The results of the interview had been sent to everyone of you. Congratulations to those who has been chosen, and to those who are not. Do not be disheartened. You can still help out in the LRM events. We see potential in all of u, but we only have limited spaces in the IG.

For the subcomms, we will have a subcomm retreat soon, to welcome all of you into the IG. *Snickers* I had my "fun" during my subcomm retreat. hahahahahaha. Now is ur turn!

Lastly.... is the LRM T-Shirt Design.

Well.. first.. I want to say a big sorry to everyone of you. I am not able to complete the design by the deadline I told you. It is heaps crazy for me in Sem 2.1. Lots of projects and tests to be done. Traveling time is super long. When I reach home, I'm already dead. However, now is the holidays! I am able to concentrate and design the LRM Shirt for all of you! However, I want to make this year's LRM T-Shirt Design abit more different. We will conduct a competition for the freshies to design ur own LRM shirt!

- Submit your registration, (name, admin number and class) to junhengkau@gmail.com if you are interested in designing for LRM shirt!
- Registration ends on Friday, 11th June, 11.59pm

*Shirt design: Shirt is a black collared t shirt. Only a single colour is allowed in the design.

"LRM, the first course in TP that had nightwalk as orientation was indeed a GREAT SUCCESS! Thank you all that help out for the nightwalk and make it a possible and memorable event. Without any of you, it wouldn't be such a huge success. Moreover, there are still room fir improvement, I believe. RWS/USS Trip for the Juniors!

Hospitality and Welfare Director, Hidayah, "Hello Leisurites!!! How are you all doing so far??? I hope everyone is getting along well with each other especially the freshies!!! We juniors sure had alot of fun in USS & RSW!!! Oh yeah, we are all gear up for GORENTATION!!! are you? well i hope to meet everyone of you soon!!! don't be scared! I will make sure that everyone will be safe and sound! so please take care of each other. Drink alot of water (ESPECIALLY THOSE IN SENTOSA) cause we sweat like pig!!! and omg la! The lecture room suck because the aircon like not working like that!! Anyway, make sure all of you don't fall sick ah!!! LEISURE RESORT ROCKS!!!!"

Resorts World Sentosa/ Universal Studios Singapore Field Trip

WOOOHOOO!

The juniors got a chance to go to the RWS/USS for their field trip. The lecturers went out to request for a study trip to RWS/USS. AWESOME! We get to visit Festive Hotel, Micheal Hotel, and Hard Rock Hotel! We went into one of the rooms of Festive Hotel. We also went for "Shrek 4D" movie. It was super amazing. Not forgetting the scary spiders that attacked our legs. Haha! Don't forget, there are still work to be done in the midst of having fun! Assignments!!!!

Yeah... we must not forget about the work.

Guidelines to Students

10 min presentation during the Tutorial at Week 4 (Tute 3)
A power point presentation is required for the combined tutorial in the following week. Your power point presentation should be in pointers form (essay format is not necessary). Photos, pictures and/or illustration are highly appreciated.
Class representative needs to combine all presentations from four groups into ONE thumb drive. Please bring ONE laptop per class for the presentation.
Each group has a total of 10 minutes to present. Please manage your time wisely.

Yeah.. so. Basically it was fun. Not forgetting to take a final group shot in front of the Universal Studio Globe. :)

Thus, do not play missing on the day of the orientation! I will... something bad will befall on you! *Bah. Failed attempt in threatening* The orientation is still compulsory!)

Haha! I've finally met all of you today! All of you are very quiet! Adorable tho! I like your batch!! Congratulations for being the last batch to go to Tourism Academy @ Sentosa (TAS)! Your Juniors, which is the year 2s, are starting their new semester in TAS now! Happy for all of you, lucky people! If you ever walk past the main comms, be friendly, wave and say hi to us! Of course, introduce who you are! We will do our best and remember all of your names! (Which we are already trying to do... we have the class lists! :))

New LRM Noticeboard!

Hey LRM-ers! We have a new noticeboard! Do take a look at it, and share some love by writing a sweet note to us. :) HAHA.

As you can see, there are 2 columns for our noticeboard. The left side is the pictures of the main comms (please leave some awesome touching poems in our envelopes!!! :)) and the right side is the events highlights (which we will put up photos of the events and also update you about the current LRM happenings and events)!

On the top left hand corner, there is an envelope, it is the place where you get your papers from (and write little notes to us), and the top right hand corner's envelope will be for the suggestions and feedbacks!

Recent Happenings in LRM...

FRESH LEAN MEATS!!!! All of you are gonna have a night walk/ detective/ treasure hunt orientation! BE EXCITED!!! I assure you, the orientation will be FUN! Your juniors have planned a lot for your orientation to ensure all of you will enjoy it!
For girls with weak heart: Do not worry! We have lots of MACHO men in the LRMIG to look after you girls!
For guys with weak heart: Do not worry! We have lots of BRAVE women in the LRMIG to look after you guys!
We have been told to look after your safety and welfare as well, thus, do not be afraid to come for the orientation :)

This orientation is different from your business orientation, this is LRM orientation which will bond you and the LRM cohort together! Attendance is compulsory! (We have the class lists, so you can't run away.... MWAHAHAHAHAHA)

Money Collection!

Everybody MUST pay S$20( Yes... it's Sing Dollars... do not give me otherwise) for the LRM package! The package includes:
- Customised LRM Shirt (I will dedicate my life to design an awesome LRM shirt for you guys!)

- Orientation & refreshments
- Fund other LRM events for entire year

Hello guys, in case you did not check your TP email, here's the update for SSM!

The start of the October semester is a couple of weeks away, and it is now time to start preparing yourselves for BHT2009 – Service Skill Methodology.

The following are a few of the things that you will be required to prepare BEFORE reporting for your Service Skills Methodology class:

1. Get inoculated against Typhoid.

a. This is a statutory requirement by the National Environment Agency for ALL Food Handlers in Singapore.

b. Typhoid inoculations can be obtained at your family clinic, or at all Government Polyclinics, and normally lasts three years.

c. Make a PHOTOCOPY of the Inoculation Certificate, and submit it during the first day of your SSM Class.

d. Keep the original, as it is valid for three years, and you will not get the photocopy back.

e. Any student who fails to get the required inoculation, will NOT be allowed to attend SSM classes until a valid Inoculation Certificate is produced.

2. Attire & Grooming Standards

a. Students are required to report for SSM Practical Classes in FULL UNIFORM, and properly groomed, as prescribed in the attached document.

b. Full uniform includes ALL the other items (2 x clickable ball-point pens, notebook, and waiters’ friend) as prescribed in the attached document.

c. Read and study the document carefully.

3. Punctuality & Attendance

a. Service Skills Methodology is a hands-on practical class. Attendance is, therefore, critical to ensure that students get the opportunity to practice the skills taught. As such there is a strict attendance policy for Service Skills Methodology.

b. Students will be marked as ‘LATE’ if they do not report in their complete uniform and groomed to set standards by 8.00 am sharp.

c. Students will be marked ‘ABSENT’ if they do not report for duty by 8.15 am.

4. Locker & Locker Room

a. Lockers are provided on a first-come-first-served basis, however, locks are NOT provided, so you will have to bring your own padlock to secure your locker.

b. The school will not be responsible for the safety of the items in the lockers, especially belongings stored in unlocked lockers.

c. You are only to use the lockers within the changing rooms of your own gender. Anyone caught trespassing into changing rooms of the opposite gender, will be dealt with severely.

d. The use of lockers is only for the day that you are on SSM Practical class. Any locker found to be locked after 5pm, is liable to have its lock cut, and contents removed.

e. As the locker rooms are in a public area, the gate can only be accessed by using of your TP Student Card. Therefore, carry your TP Student Card with you at all times, and keep the gate to the Locker Rooms shut, so that there will not be any unauthorised access by outsiders, and your belongings should remain safe.

5. Other things to bring on your first day of SSM Practical

a. 1 x used plastic drink bottle (300 or 500ml size)

b. 1 x “Good Morning” Towel (Clean)

1. Age between 16-35 will be needed. (good if you have dance background. if not, =] it's fine.)

it was a great experience and i believe we are all bonded in a way or another =)

ok, so during the 2 days 1 night camp,
we were group up with LAW people but they left around dinner time..

special thanks to BSC for organising this camp and all organising committee for making each experience worthwhile for us. Despite the attendance, the camp was still enriching and funfill. I, as the vice president of LRMIG, thank you all once again for inviting us over and i with the team look forward in collabrating events with all IGs.

Last week i featured the goalkeepers having the same pose when they defend the goalpost.

this week, it will be 'players with a good pose while kicking the ball.'

“ALL FOR CURE, CURE FOR ALL”

Aim : “All for CURE, CURE for All” (ACCA) corporate games aims to promote healthy lifestyle through sports participation, boost corporate spirit through competition and at the same time raise much needed funds for CURE.

Background : This is the second time we are organising ACCA and we will be including bowling, an indoor game this year. Participating corporates will be invited to send a team of 25 to participate in all or any of 7 different sporting activities: Bowling, Basketball, Netball, Badminton, Tennis, Football, Table-Tennis.

Enough of all the background...

Job Scope: Official Volunteers

Requirement: able to commit for a full day

on wednesday 16th july 2008,

some of the lucky juniors of LRM got to visit the two upcoming attraction of Singapore which will be opening in year 2009 and 2010 respectively.

With the ms goh, ms joan, mr yeo and mr shum, we had a rare opportunity to meet up with one of the key players in both attraction and had a few insights of the construction.

Skipping is fun and furthermore, you'll be skipping for a good cause! *ClapClap* Instead of skipping lectures and tutorials, why not come down and register outside the library on 1-3 July 2008 from 10am to 5pm! Remember to bring along your matric card/staff pass!

Bring along your lecturers and and tutors and watch them skip! =D For once, you can skip with your lecturers and tutors for a good cause! ^^ For every 10 skip, a bowl of rice will be donated to the needy! So what are you waiting for? Why wait till the IR is up then skip when you can skip now! Skipping is fun and healthy! Those who are *ER HEM* MUST register and SKIP FOR A GOOD CAUSE! OK? =D

One of our LRM Year 1 freshie, Priscilla had recently took part in the Changi Simei 24-hour skipping challenge! She skipped a total of 2200 times! IMAGINE GUYS, JUST IMAGINE.. 2200 times is like 220 bowls of rice! If 1 needy child takes 4 bowls of rice per day, he'll need 55 days to finish the 220 bowls of rice! If we think big, we can skip BIG(more)!
